Trail Karma by Outside

In a groundbreaking initiative to support and preserve America’s off-road trails, Outside Online has partnered with Toyota and Gaia GPS to launch the Trail Karma program. This program aims to highlight and maintain 20 standout off-road destinations across the United States, ensuring these trails remain accessible and well-maintained for future adventurers.

One notable example is the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Adventurer L. Renee Blount explored this trail, testing the capabilities of a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. During her journey, she connected with the local Toyota Land Cruiser Association chapter, which actively maintains and improves this network of high-clearance 4WD roads. Their efforts ensure that the trail remains navigable and safe for all visitors.

The Trail Karma program not only showcases these remarkable routes but also encourages outdoor enthusiasts to engage with local off-road communities. By participating, individuals can contribute to the preservation of these trails, ensuring they remain open and enjoyable for generations to come. Whether through donations, volunteer work, or simply spreading awareness, every effort counts in maintaining the beauty and accessibility of America’s off-road adventures.

For those interested in exploring these trails or supporting the cause, detailed information and maps are available through Gaia GPS. By enabling the Overland layer, users can access the 20 featured Trail Karma routes and learn more about the communities dedicated to their upkeep. Together, through initiatives like Trail Karma, we can ensure that the spirit of adventure thrives and that our cherished trails continue to inspire and challenge all who traverse them.
